2009 JV FUTURES CUP CHAMPIONS

On Wednesday June 17th Lakeland beat Panas 3-1 in the 2nd Annual Futures Cup match held at Copper Beech Middle School.

The game pits 8th grade students who are currently attending the same Middle School but will go to rival High Schools for the Fall 2009 school year as well as the 2009 JV soccer season.

In the 2nd addition of the Futures Cup- Lakeland took a 2 goal lead into halftime with goals from Gonzalo Prando and Stefan Rodovic- with both of the goals assisted by fellow Lakeland 8th grader Patryk Seweryn.

About 5 minutes into the 2nd Half- the Panas bound 8th grade team struck back with a goal from Doug McKim assisted by teammate Vito Alliberti.

This score remained tied for the next 25 minutes of the 2nd half until Chris Jimenez buried a left footed shot to the near post to put the game away.
For Chris's efforts he was named MVP of the 2009 Futures Cup.

Lakeland High School will be the proud owners of the Cup for the next year- until the rematch in the Spring of 2010.
