2 Captains have been named for 2009 VarsityPosted Thursday, May 28, 2009 by Tim Hourahan  Dan Foci and Andy Fazio at Fox Lane 2008 Two Seniors at Lakeland HS have been named captains for the 2009 Varsity soccer season. Dan Foci (GK) and Andy Fazio (SW) will both be entering their 4th season with the team and 3rd as a full time starter. Andy as been a steady contributor in this program since his Freshman year- playing in all 22 contests in 2006 when the team made its first of 2 consecutive trips to the Sectioanl finals going 16-5-2. During that year Andy played mainly as an offensive reserve at midfield and striker. During his 2007 Sophomore year (14-6-1) Andy moved to his more natural role on defense and in both 2007 and 2008 started in every single match he played in. In 2009 Andy will be playing his 2nd full season as the teams central back- where he will help organize the defense and more importantly take on this new leadership role to the entire team. Our 2nd captain for 2009 will be Senior Goalkeeper- Dan Foci. This will actually be Dan's 2nd season leading the team from the Captain position. Foci has a chance to go down not only as one of the best Goalkeepers in Lakeland's history but he also has a chance to be named right along with some of the top goalies to play in Section 1 in quite a long time. Both of these young men look to lead this team back to the Sectional Championship match for the 3rd time in their High school career and capture the plaque that they have been working to get since 2006.
